High Dependency Unit – Evergreen
At Belmont House we facilitate all categories of care of the elderly, from independent living within a nursing home setting right through to high dependency care.
Our fully self-contained and secure high dependency unit (The Evergreen unit) is located on the lower ground floor. This bright and spacious unit is suitable for those residents with higher care needs.
Accommodation in this 31-bed unit consists of mostly double bedrooms, with a small number of single bedrooms.
Our bedrooms are bright and spacious and are all fitted with a nurse-call system. We encourage residents to personalise their bedrooms as they wish.
All of our beds are single, adjustable electric beds, with standard mattresses. All bedrooms are fitted with a wardrobe, bedside locker, and overbed table. Additional small items of furniture are permitted provided that they do not impede on the staff’s ability to deliver care.
With higher staffing levels, the Evergreen unit can provide the highest quality of life within a safe and caring environment.
All of our staff are experienced and fully trained in the care of residents with maximum dependency needs.
There is a Clinical Nurse Manager allocated to the unit. There is also a staff nurse on duty 24 hours a day, along with healthcare assistants.
Residents of the Evergreen unit have full access to an open plan dayroom and dining room, which is fully supervised, and overlooked by the nurse’s station.
There are also smaller sitting rooms, and visiting rooms within the unit, as well as a small outdoor area with seating, which can be enjoyed by all when the weather is good.
Residents of the Evergreen unit are welcome to use the coffee shop located on the ground floor, provided they are with either a member of staff or a visitor.
Hairdressing is available by appointment in our hairdressing salon located on the ground floor on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Fridays and Saturdays. Physiotherapy is available Monday to Friday by appointment and Chiropody is available on Thursdays by appointment.
All laundry is done in-house (with the exception of dry cleaning and specialist woollens) and is included in the fees, provided that all clothing is adequately labelled.
Labels can be ordered from Reception upon admission, and it is the responsibility of the family to ensure that all clothing is adequately labelled.
We cannot send any items of clothing that are not labelled to the laundry, and we cannot accept responsibility for unlabelled items of clothing that go missing.
All bedding and towels are provided as standard.
Breakfast is served in the bedroom from 8.30am onwards, and lunch and tea are both served in the dining room.
Residents are encouraged to dine in the dining room, where they can be assured of a quality dining experience. Our menu provides good wholesome and nutritional meals, and also features tasty home baking.
We can also cater for special diets, such as low fat, soft diet etc. There are staff on hand during meal times to provide assistance if required.
All meals are prepared by our highly trained chefs in our state-of-the-art catering facilities that are all HACCP compliant.
Visiting times are from 11am – 9pm, and we ask that visitors do not visit during meal times. Lunch is served from 12.45pm – 1.30pm and tea is served from 4.45pm – 5.30pm.
We are a pet friendly nursing home, but we do ask that dogs are supervised and kept on a lead at all times.
If a resident is leaving the nursing home for a period of time with a visitor, we ask that you let the nurse on duty know, and also sign out at Reception and provide a contact number.
